For 27 years, Southern Electric has been bringing outstanding service and electrical knowledge to our customers. We remain proactive with the new NEC 2020 code changes that will be taking effect toward the end of the year.
Southern Electric, based in Hartford, Connecticut, is a small electrical contractor that has been in business since April 1993. With our staff, two fully equipped service vehicles, a 26’ scissor lift, and a 65’ aerial bucket truck, we have the resources to handle projects both large and small.
Southern Electric’s growth over the past 27 years has led to offering our clients a much wider range of services. In addition to the standard electrical repairs and ground up building projects, we are staffed with experts in the voice data and security fields. We can install and repair complete phone systems, security systems, card access control systems, and parking lot gate systems.
Our owners are involved with every aspect of our business, which means that the job gets done right the first time out. No callbacks. The bottom line is cost savings for our customers. Our track record for on-time completions is 100%. We work efficiently and thoroughly, allowing us to deliver competitive electrical quotes with top quality work.
Valerie has over 32 years of experience in the electrical industry. She started out as an apprentice, installing commercial telephone systems, where she received her T-2 license. She then went on to become a State of Connecticut licensed Journeyman, where she worked at Southern Electric and acquired her Master Electrician license in order to take over the business in 2006. She continued to challenge herself and acquire both State of Connecticut Electrical Inspector and Building Official Certifications.
She currently holds State of Connecticut licenses as a Master Electrician, Electrical Inspector and Building Official. She is a member of the International Association Electrical Inspectors, where she holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer and is the currently Connecticut’s Chapter Representative.
In her free time she has enjoyed volunteering at the National Rebuilding Day for the last 10 years and is now on the Rebuilding Together Hartford Board of Directors.
Robert is a graduate of Vinal Technical High School in 1979, one of 22 seniors’. 6 from the graduating class went on to become electricians. He started out as an apprentice, the second week after my graduation in 1979, working like everybody else in residential houses for a contractor, in West Hartford Ct.
Here I did everything from fishing wires in existing homes to wiring in new developments. After many years of rehabbing homes in the City of Hartford and Bloomfield for the Housing authority, it was time to move on. In 1983 I took another position with a Hartford based Electrical Contractor where I learned the basics of commercial wiring and instruction on new and existing buildings. This included new services, alarm systems, emergency systems, hospital, industrial, and institutional properties. In 1984, I had applied for my Journeyman’s license and passed 1st time through! For the next 10 years I ran jobs from small 100k to bigger 5 Million ones
Taking from all that I knew from my trade, it was time to take the leap. I started my own business April 1993. I have been service my customers for the last 24 years and counting.
Currently holds Master Electrician License E-123486, Bosch Car Charger Certificate, Vertical Phone System Certification, Lutron Home Automation Installer and Nest Pro installer.
